How to calculate petrol or diesel trip cost
First, determine the distance you will travel and the vehicle's average mileage. Fuel required is calculated as distance ÷ mileage. The estimated fuel expense is then fuel required × price per litre.
Example
If a vehicle travels 300 km, delivers 15 km/L, and fuel costs ₹95 per litre, the trip needs about 20 litres and the estimated fuel cost is ₹1,900 for a one-way trip.

Actual trip cost depends on both fuel price and fuel economy. A vehicle with lower-priced fuel is not necessarily cheaper to operate if its mileage is significantly lower.
